On Thursday, I’m joining over a dozen industry peers for a 24-hour podcast for charity in the morning (Redefining Work is on the 11a-12p ET slot). In the afternoon (4-4:45p ET) I’ll join a group of incredible DEI leaders to moderate a discussion on Maximizing DEI Impact for my friend Rocki Howard’s Inclusive By Design Conference (RSVP here).

Next week, I’ll be back in Barcelona joining IESE’s School of Founders as a Guest Lecturer for their Foundations of Scale program. I’ll also be joining the BCN Talent & People Meetup so if you’re in Barcelona check it out.

❶ One Big Thing

If you spend part of your time living on the internet, chances are you’ve seen the video Brittany Pietsch recorded and uploaded to TikTok of her unexpected firing from Cloudflare. She wasn’t the only one.

Is this the new norm for remote layoffs? Maybe.

I’m not going to get into the ethics of secret recordings or the shortcomings of how it was handled on the HR side. That would need to be a long read to explore all of the angles adequately.

What I do think is that HR needs to work off the assumption that these conversations will be put on blast - and plan accordingly.
