ā¶ One Big Thing

Last week, I had a conversation with a CEO concerned about the fact that their brand attracted employees who were only interested in getting the companyā€™s logo on their resume and would leave after two years. They wanted to know how to address this problem.

They didnā€™t realize their problem was a gift they were lucky to have.

The days of golden retirement watches are long gone.

The global average employee tenure is 4.1 years. Less in high-demand sectors like technology.

You donā€™t own talent. You rent.

If you focus on maximizing the impact and mutual value while you have them, however long that is, you both win.

Thatā€™s one of the reasons I love LinkedInā€™s Tour of Duty model.

Being a great place to be, and to be from, is a great place to be.
